What is CBD?CBD stands for cannabidiol, which is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid that's naturally found in hemp and cannabis plants. It has become popular for its therapeutic benefits, treatment of pain, and as a natural remedy that can help out with a large variety of health conditions and issues. Thanks to recent legalization efforts and large-scale acceptance of hemp farming in the US, there is a ton of research that documents the benefits of CBD usage.

What can CBD be used for?CBD can be used for a wide variety of ailments. Our topical formulas are designed to be applied directly on the skin for targeted relief. They are meant to address specific areas of discomfort, making them a great option for anyone dealing with localized pain, soreness, or inflammation. Unlike ingestible CBD products, topicals allow you to focus on the exact spot that’s giving you trouble for more precise relief. Our tinctures are designed to be digested, and provide a broader level of relief. Anxiety: CBD can help reduce symptoms of anxiety related disorders. Studies have shown reduced anxiety and panic attacks associated with social anxiety, public speaking, PTSD, obsessive compulsion disorder, and other issues that prompt anxiousness. Pain & Inflammation: Two of the most common uses for CBD are to reduce pain and inflammation in the body, which many people usually experience simultaneously. CBD interacts with pain receptors in the body, directly minimizing pain. It also reduces inflammation throughout the body, which naturally relieves pain. When applied topically, it has a more focused effect on the area where pain is being experienced (i.e., on the skin, underlying muscles, or joints and connective tissues). Seizures: Many studies have shown that high oral doses of CBD are effective in treating seizures associated with epilepsy. It has been found that it can help reduce neuron excitability, thus reducing the frequency or occurrence of seizures similarly to other anti-epileptic medications. Other Medical Conditions CBD has been shown to help with other medical conditions such as Alzheimer’s, arthritis, cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, multiple sclerosis, autism, fibromyalgia, diabetes, acne, obesity, Parkinson’s, various soft tissue injuries, and much more. Other benefits include: Balanced energy Mood improvement Reduced nausea Relaxation and calmness Sleep aid

How does CBD work in the body? The short answer is, CBD reduces pain and inflammation in the body, helps maintain balance, and restores cellular function. The longer answer is, we all have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) in our body that is responsible for regulating the balance of nearly everything that goes on in the body. The ECS is made up of CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 activation controls physiological functions like sleep, appetite, vomiting, mood, pain perception, and memory. CB2 activation controls inflammation throughout the body and immune system. When consumed, CBD can bind to different types of receptors in the body to produce therapeutic effects. When applied topically, CBD interacts with cannabinoid receptors in the skin to help reduce discomfort and ease inflammation right where it’s applied. CBD’s primary benefit is it's ability to control and reduce pain (acute, chronic, even neuropathic pain).

What dosage of CBD should I take? It’s important to note that CBD dosing is very individualized, and will vary from person to person. The ideal dose depends on a person’s body weight, composition, metabolism, tolerance, prior usage, experience, and the specific conditions that they're treating. Traditionally, most companies have recommended fairly low doses, ranging anywhere from 5-20 mg per serving. Lower level doses of CBD will most likely NOT achieve the desired results you are looking for. However, if you are new to CBD, it's best to start with a low dosage and gradually increase until you find the optimal dose for your needs. This approach allows you to assess how your body will respond to CBD without overwhelming your system. Recent studies have shown that a higher dose of 100-200+ mg of CBD per day is the most effective. If you are looking for a more therapeutic level dose, the general rule of thumb is a range of 3-5mg of CBD, per kilogram of body weight, per day. Using this example for average size adults, this would range anywhere from 150-250+ mg of CBD for a 125-pound woman, and 250-400+ mg for a 180-pound man, per day. Typically, the doses should be broken up throughout the day to address any pain or other issues as needed, help achieve a more cumulative effect, and avoid any potential adverse effects like GI irritation that might occur if too much coconut oil or MCT oil were consumed in a single serving. Results will vary with each individual, so you will likely need to experiment to see what works best for you. If there are any questions or concerns, you should consult with a healthcare professional before starting a high-level dosage of CBD, replacing or intermixing with your current prescription, or altering your supplementation routine. If you are applying CBD topically, the dosage is often considered to be safe and well tolerated as it's not being absorbed into the bloodstream directly, and is usually administered at a much lower dose than when consumed orally.
